I gave a presentation about the relationship of subject wellbeing, a scientific word for happiness, and the health of individuals. I then researched how high or low their subject wellbeing was and compared to their social-economic determinants of health which was very interesting and new to me. Health is essentially connected to happiness!
Medicine is often described as an interdisciplinary profession where a medical practitioner is usually and often interacting with many other healthcare professions. Hence, the ability to communicate effectively not just to patients but to other colleagues of similar profession and other professions is crucial.
Now, this is a fun little way to enjoy learning pharmacology for hypertension. If you like to sing during your pharmacology exam and annoy your friends then this is for you!
Have you ever wondered how your tongue worked? If you think about it, it is quite complicated and intricate on how all the muscles come together so that you can move your tongue around and change its shape. It is also very interesting to learn about its nerve innervations and how it communicates with our brain. Let's find out!
The Tall Man – Death and Life on Palm Island by Chloe Hooper essentially boils down to Mr Mulrunji Doomadgee, an Indigenous person, found dead in custody on the cold prison cell floor where Mr Chris Hurley, a non-Indigenous person, was the police officer in charge.
My interest in rural life and rural medical practice has been consolidated after visiting Benalla. I have learnt that general practitioners (GPs) have a huge and meaningful impact on the community and, comically, are celebrities around the town.
I wanted to visit a small rural town that was outside of Queensland so I could see what Australia had to offer. I ended up in a small quaint city called Benalla in Victoria. I really enjoyed Benalla and decided to look up at its health and see how a rural town was doing compared to a major city.
Appendix of the project with all the tables that did not feature throughout the presenting project. Includes: amount of CBP (grams) used and the surface area utilised (cm2) for each formulation and days, textural profiling for each formulation and dissolution results of all the formulations at day 0, 7, 14, 28 and 60.
The effect of diluting the formulations and the standard formulation containing Dovate® with aqueous cream and homogenizing in a pharmacy setting showed that it was a major factor of slowing down or restricting the release CBP.
A t-test for spreadability was carried out for each formulation and compared to the standard. A dependent t-test, due to being in the same sample, will be used.
The collecting of the results expanded over a 28-day period where 4 dissolutions curves were made. On Day 60 the last dissolution curve was made to expand on the degradation studies.
In analytical chemistry the accurate quantitative measurement of the composition of samples, such as in spectroscopy, would require a calibration using standard samples of known composition. A calibration curve is an analytical method to determine the concentration of an unknown sample solution.
When an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) is incorporated into a formulation, a rate of release of that API occurs. This is the case with a variety of formulations. Clobetasol and various surfactants that were incorporated into aqueous cream during this experiment followed this concept.
Topical corticosteroids are formulated for the treatment of dermatoses. These types of formulations vary in efficacy due to the factors on which such efficacy is dependent. Within a pharmacy setting, manufacturing methods are simplified. Do these affect its integrity?
During my final year of my bachelor of pharmacy I had the joy of doing a project in pharmaceutics on topical corticosteroids. This project took us 6 months to accomplish and it mainly taught us about research, reading the literature and to attempt at making a pharmaceutics project.
There is an enormous amount of patients that present to the clinic with either respiratory and cardiovascular symptoms. A skilful physician will be able to expertly ask the right questions that have a tremendous amount of significance in finding out the current problems. Hence, asking the right questions is extremely important in medicine.
My admiration for medicine came from a Professor Barau who had inspired and enhanced positively my perception towards medicine along with all the complicated and tedious aspects that come with the medical profession.
You are about to come to University (or at James Cook University) for the first time and you are not sure where to stay. The question is, should I go on-campus or should I go off-campus? And if I do, how long should I stay for? The same can be applied to international students who are coming on an exchange or to mature students.
